Before the Body: Sound, Consciousness, and the Beginnings of a Lifetime

Explore womb regression, soul consciousness, and one client’s experience of conception through sound, alignment, and an expanded sense of possibility.

Before the body, a whole universe of possibility.

“Pure sound but no sound at all.”

That was how a former student described a moment she experienced during a womb regression demonstration in my training. A moment later, she reached for another description:

“This whole universe was just created.”

We were exploring her beginnings. Before there was a developing body. While the egg and sperm were still separate.

Where does the story of a lifetime begin?

In my work, I make room for clients to explore what they experience as soul consciousness before joining a developing body—the time surrounding what I think of as the activation of a lifetime. This territory receives relatively little attention in the training I’ve encountered, and I find it deeply fascinating.

In this session, my client experienced herself as the consciousness of the egg.

She described seeing little “minnows” around her, trying to get in. As I asked her about the experience, she described both intention and randomness, along with a sense of magnetism.

Then she said something that caught my attention.

“They’re speaking.”

She was referring to the minnows.

“And it has to be the same key.”

As we continued exploring, she described the egg’s consciousness as singing in a particular key. The sperm, experienced as minnows, were also communicating through what she described as keys or tones.

“It’s like they’re trying to entice me to let them in.”

Within her experience, attraction, communication, and entry were connected to this sense of tonal alignment. She described a physical challenge, too: the sperm still had to make its way through.

Sound, attraction, and alignment—one client’s experience of her beginnings.

When I invited her to move forward into that moment, she described “pure sound but no sound at all,” followed by the feeling that a whole universe had just been created.

I’m still sitting with the expansiveness of that description.

A moment of conception, experienced as a whole universe opening.

For her, the exploration was fascinating. It opened another way of understanding her inception through sound, frequency, alignment, and co-creation, experienced from a perspective broader than her everyday human self. A level I consider soul consciousness.

An interesting parallel in reproductive research

Her experience brought to mind research about the interactions between egg and sperm.

A 2020 study published in Proceedings of the Royal Society B found that follicular fluid surrounding human eggs attracted sperm differently depending on the particular combination of woman and man. This suggests that chemical interactions can favor some sperm over others, adding complexity to the familiar story of fertilization as simply a race to the egg.

The research examined chemical attraction. It did not examine sound, soul consciousness, or the experiences described in this session.

What interests me is the thematic parallel: interaction, attraction, and responsiveness at the beginning of a lifetime. In my client’s experience, those themes took the form of communication through tones. Through my own spiritual lens, this invites questions about what I understand as intelligent frequencies of consciousness.

What these explorations are in service of

My work is about supporting clients in exploring their consciousness and discovering what is illuminating, strengthening, and meaningful within their own expanded-state experiences. Scientifically verifying an account of pre-incarnation existence is outside the purpose of these sessions.

When something that emerges in a session echoes something we encounter elsewhere, I get curious. I don’t feel the need to announce, “See? I told you so.”

These parallels can give us language for experiences that are otherwise difficult to articulate. They can invite questions and help a client reflect on what an experience means in their life. We can explore that meaning while remaining clear about what the research establishes and what belongs to personal experience and interpretation.

When I asked her afterward what the session had opened up for her, she said it was difficult to find simple wording. There were so many avenues of curiosity: What about in vitro fertilization? Does every egg have consciousness? Is that consciousness the soul?

These were questions the experience opened for her—questions she was excited to explore.

She also shared that, throughout her past-life regression journeys, the familiar idea that “you choose your parents” had never quite fit her experience. Her own sense was closer to a lottery that the soul enters. This session still fit that understanding, but the dynamics shifted when she experienced the egg as participating in the selection of the sperm.

I find that distinction meaningful. She was discovering language for her own experience, including where it differed from a familiar spiritual explanation and my personal belief.

What stayed with me most was her description of how that felt: her mind had widened, and it felt powerful.

“It’s thrilling!” she told me.

A broader canvas for living

An experience like this can open questions that reach well beyond conception. What if this human lifetime is part of a much larger experience of consciousness? How might feeling connected to that possibility change the way we live now?

Our human personality gives us a particular way of perceiving life. It develops through our experiences, relationships, wounds, and the meanings we make from them. Sometimes that perspective becomes a box—one built around who we’ve been told we are, what has happened to us, or what we believe is possible.

From inside that box, life can feel painful and narrowly defined.

In an expanded state, a person may experience themselves beyond those familiar boundaries. They may feel themselves as the witness of their human experience while also sensing participation in something far more expansive. What I perceive as soul consciousness: a felt relationship with the all-there-is.

There is something powerful about feeling that breadth from within your own experience. It offers a broader canvas from which to perceive your life.

A painful chapter may begin to feel like part of a larger story. A familiar identity may loosen enough to allow another possibility. You may find more room for compassion, curiosity, and a sense of belonging that reaches beyond the circumstances of this lifetime.

Those shifts can influence how you meet everyday life: how you respond to uncertainty, relate to others, make decisions, and spend the time you have.

For some people, these experiences also profoundly change their relationship with death. Feeling a sense of consciousness beyond the human personality can soften—and sometimes dissolve—the fear that death means the end of everything.

Through my own spiritual lens, death is a threshold to more. A transition within a broader experience of soul consciousness.

Each person gets to explore what that means for them. And when the possibility of continuity becomes something they feel connected to, it can bring greater peace and freedom to the life they are living now.
